One thing I love about you, Dorothy, is your enthusiasm for the wonderfully small things in life. I too love watching chickens scratch around. We are blessed to have neighbors with chickens and ducks.
One thing I miss here in Hawai'i is wildlife, but I must admit, it's nice to be able to drive in the countryside without having to watch out for deer on the road!
Thanks for the comment, Wendy. You'd also love to watch a hen with a dozen differently-colored chicks scurrying across a parking lot, chirping as they go!

Why would I be surprised that your heart goes out to chickens!
My heart melts for those who care for youngsters, whether they be critters or people!
What a heart-warming tale about chickens! I love the picture of the hen and her chicks nestled in the buttress roots.

Adorable, for sure!
What a wonderful memory, Dorothy! Thank you for sharing it along with those photos.
Love this, Dorthy. You are spot on about those island chickens! Roland
Thanks, Roland!
Thanks for your comment, Kate--memories are so often central to our lives and our ways of seeing the world. They will turn up in future post as well!
Thanks for your comment, Roland--it's nice to know I'm not the only one, other than Greg, who appreciates these birds! Dorothy
